You know you've raised your kids right when they throw you a ripper of a farewell party before you head off on the adventure of a lifetime. Lisa and I were absolutely blown away by the spread our lovely daughters put on for us at their place in Seville Grove. Talk about going out in style!

The house was absolutely packed with family and mates, all gathered to give us a proper send-off before we hit the road for the Big Lap. The dining table was groaning under the weight of enough tucker to feed a small army—and knowing our mob, we probably gave it a red hot go at demolishing the lot! From hearty baked dishes to fresh salads and all the classic Aussie favorites in between, it was a true feast that showcased the kind of generous spirit we're hoping to encounter right around this great country.

What really got me was seeing everyone settling in for the evening, sprawled across the couches with cups of tea and slices of cake, swapping stories and having a good old chinwag. The walls covered in travel photos reminded me that the wanderlust doesn't fall far from the tree—our girls have done their fair share of exploring too. Even the family pooch got in on the action, soaking up all the extra pats and attention that comes with a full house.

As the evening rolled on and the conversations flowed, I couldn't help but feel a bit emotional about the whole thing. Here we were, surrounded by the people who matter most, about to embark on this massive journey that's been years in the planning. The map of Australia on the wall seemed to wink at us, as if to say "see you out there, mate."</p>
It's moments like these that remind you what it's all about. Sure, we're excited about the open road, the stunning landscapes, and the adventures waiting for us, but it's the connections—the people—that make life truly rich. And we're setting off with hearts full of love and bellies full of good food. Not a bad way to start the Big Lap, if you ask me!
