This morning, we set out for what we anticipated would be a leisurely walk, just shy of five kilometers. It turns out that our sense of distance, or perhaps our ability to follow directions, requires some recalibration. We ended up covering over six kilometers.
The walk itself, however, was most agreeable. The path meandered alongside a rather placid river, providing a serene backdrop to our morning constitutional. Numerous boardwalks guided us through the landscape, ensuring our feet remained relatively dry. These boardwalks were much appreciated.
One of the most delightful aspects of the walk was the abundance of birdlife. We spotted several species, though our ornithological knowledge is rather limited, so we can’t provide specific identifications. Suffice to say, there were birds, and they were chirping.
Adding a touch of whimsy to the experience were the quirky, painted doors affixed to various trees along the route. They seemed to be miniature portals to another world, or perhaps just a bit of artistic fun. We found them quite amusing.
The tranquility of the river was striking; it was almost perfectly still, reflecting the surrounding trees like a mirror. A few people were taking advantage of the calm waters with paddle boards, gliding along the surface with ease.
What began as a simple morning stroll transformed into a longer, more immersive experience, particularly as we were in the company of good friends. One thing is certain: when surrounded by good company, the kilometers seem to melt away, and even an unexpectedly long walk feels less like a chore. It was a delightful way to spend the morning, and we were happy to have ventured out, even if our initial estimation of the distance was slightly off.
