Following our explorations of Denmark’s calmer waters, we sought a slightly different coastal experience. Our next destination was Madfish Bay and, nearby, Waterfall Beach.

The contrast between the two was quite remarkable.

Waterfall Beach certainly lived up to its name. To our delight, the waterfall was flowing freely.

The water was surprisingly clean and tasted exceptionally fresh. It’s always a pleasure to find a natural water source that appears so pristine.

Madfish Bay, on the other hand, presented a rather different picture.

The conditions were rough, with waves churning aggressively. Observing the turbulent water, it brought to mind the agitation cycle of a washing machine. Even if it was a warm day, we decided that swimming in those conditions was not advisable, no matter how inviting the weather. We are, after all, seasoned travellers, and know when to exercise caution.

It's fair to say the beach is aptly named. Perhaps it's more suited for the mad than the sane swimmer! The raw power of the ocean was definitely on display, providing a stunning, if slightly intimidating, spectacle. The experience reminded us that not all beaches are created equal, and that respecting the ocean's power is paramount.
