Following our explorations of ancient fish traps and contemporary chainsaw artistry, we decided to indulge in some local produce. On our route back, we made a deliberate detour to Nickluk Orchard, a family-run establishment that has been a fixture in the Albany area for three decades. It brought back memories; we'd visited some eight years previously, and were relieved to find the quality and taste of their fruit hadn’t diminished.

It's a testament to their dedication, offering fresh, locally grown fruit directly to the public. Supporting local businesses is something we always aim for during our travels.

With our bags laden with apples and a handful of pears, we then sought a moment of quiet contemplation. Emu Point beckoned, promising serene views and a chance to simply unwind. We parked and savoured a drink, watching the sunlight dance and sparkle on the water. The rhythmic lapping of the waves against the shore offered a soothing balm to the day's activity.

Our peaceful interlude at Emu Point, however, was not to last indefinitely. The siren call of "op-shopping" proved too strong to resist. Lisa and Jo, in particular, have a knack for unearthing hidden treasures in second-hand stores. Consequently, we found ourselves venturing back into Albany, embarking on an expedition through the city’s various charity and opportunity shops. While we wouldn't dare disclose exactly what treasures were found, we can safely say the adventure provided plenty of amusement.

The lure of a potential bargain, it seems, is a universal motivator, even for retirees like us.
