With last-minute packing completed and a couple of snacks for the road, Jo and Mike were ready to join us on our southwest journey.

Fuel was our first imperative. The fluctuating cost of petroleum is almost enough to make us reconsider travel altogether, but the open road beckons! Our first official stop for morning tea was in Bridgetown.

Bridgetown holds a significant place in our lives; it is our hometown. While no family remains, as we grow older, the town still manages to draw us back. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, isn't it? We usually head straight for FATS, a quirky little cafe that is so much more than meets the eye. Not only do they serve coffee and food, but it is also a gallery, a picture framer, and, unexpectedly, a Christmas decoration emporium!

It is never too early to begin stocking up on baubles, apparently.
After being sufficiently hydrated and lightly caffeinated, we hit the road again, leaving the festive cheer of Bridgetown behind us. The promise of the Rainbow Coast was calling.
