Our travels have taken us far and wide, but Kalgoorlie in Western Australia presented a unique flavour to our ongoing journey. We found ourselves settling into a free camp just outside the town. It was packed, as free camps tend to be.

The free camp outside Kalgoorlie offered little in the way of solitude, but provided a welcome place to rest our heads for the night.

Still, a free spot is a free spot, and we were grateful for the respite.

Kalgoorlie itself is an interesting place. The history is palpable. We spent the day exploring the town, soaking in the atmosphere of this iconic gold mining hub.

One particular street caught our eye: Hay Street in Kalgoorlie. Let's just say it's famous for a reason.

The architecture is...distinctive. The establishments lining the street are certainly colourful, and a testament to the town's colourful past and present. We took a stroll, taking in the sights and sounds, a far cry from the peace and quiet of our previous stop.

It's certainly a place with character, something that continues to surprise us at every turn.
