After yesterday's incident (which we won't bore you with) we finally made it to the South Australia and Western Australia border at Border Village. It’s always a bit of a relief to reach this point, knowing the long stretches of the Nullarbor are behind us.

The Quarantine Checkpoint sign is a familiar sight, a stern reminder that crossing state lines involves more than just changing your watch.

The queue of fellow travelers was reasonably short, a welcome change from some of our previous border crossings. There's always a bit of nervous anticipation as you inch forward, hoping you haven’t accidentally smuggled in any forbidden fruit or vegetables. We always make sure our caravan is spotless – nobody wants to get turned around at this point.

Once cleared, we passed under the "Welcome to Western Australia" sign, a small but significant moment. It always feels good to be back on home soil, even if we still have a fair distance to travel before we can put our feet up. The landscape transforms almost immediately. The red dirt of South Australia gradually gives way to the more familiar scrub of Western Australia.

Home stretch: Western Australia's open roads beckon.

The endless highway stretches before us, a ribbon of asphalt leading us closer to home.
