The morning found us in Streaky Bay, South Australia, a town that manages to combine a relaxed coastal vibe with a surprising number of points of interest. First on our list was a stroll along the Streaky Bay Jetty

. The day was clear, the water was calm, and the jetty stretched invitingly into the bay. It's a substantial structure, one that speaks of a time when maritime transport played a more central role in the region.
After our walk, we couldn't help but notice the statue of Kerrin McEvoy, the esteemed jockey

. It's a fine piece of sculpture, capturing the poise and dedication of the man. We learned that McEvoy has strong ties to the area, which explains the prominence of the statue. It's always interesting to discover these local connections and the stories they tell.
Before moving on, we made sure to take in the sight of the Streaky Bay Institute

. The building is a rather impressive example of early 20th-century architecture. The design has a gravitas to it. We appreciate the care that goes into preserving such buildings, as they offer a tangible link to the past and a glimpse into the aspirations of earlier generations.
