After our couple of days exploring Coffin Bay, we decided to head to Horrocks Lookout, still within The District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, for a change of scenery. We don't often favour cliffside camping, but this location proved to be something special.

The view from the top was simply breathtaking.

From our vantage point, the aquamarine water stretched out before us, the colours vibrant against the stark white sand. Reaching the water’s edge, however, presented a bit of a challenge. While a descent was manageable, the return journey promised to be quite the workout. We decided our knees would thank us for admiring the beach from above, especially after the hikes we have done lately.

Setting up camp was straightforward enough, and we settled in for a couple of nights, the expanse of the Southern Ocean our constant companion.

The solitude was remarkable; the only sounds the wind and the distant crashing of waves. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest experiences are the most rewarding. We found ourselves wishing we had allocated more than two nights for this location.
