We weren't sure what to expect, having read mixed reviews, but we're always keen to judge for ourselves.

Our first impression was... sand. Lots of it. A broad, dazzlingly white beach stretched out before us, meeting the clear turquoise waters of the Spencer Gulf. The sand was cool and firm underfoot, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The only sounds were the gentle lapping of waves and the distant calls of seabirds. The quiet tranquility of this location was exactly what we needed. It's a rather stark contrast to the industrial backdrop of Whyalla, but that somehow only adds to the area's unique charm.
Further down the beach, we noticed a very long jetty extending far out into the water. It was a popular spot for fishing, we gathered, based on the numerous figures we observed casting lines into the water. We didn't try our hand at fishing ourselves, as our skills are far from honed. Instead, Lisa decided to wade into the shallows.

The water was surprisingly warm, and the sand so soft, we could have stayed there all day. Point Lowly might not be the most glamorous destination, but it offers a simple, unpretentious beauty that's hard to resist. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best experiences are the quiet ones, found in unexpected places.
