After a couple of days of coastal exploration, we felt the urge for a change of scenery. So, we set off on a day trip to Corny Point, a place promising rugged beauty and, perhaps, a slight respite from the peninsula's blustery reputation. We must admit, the name alone piqued our curiosity.
Corny Point revealed itself to be a delightful mix of stark coastal landscapes and surprising pockets of tranquility. The coastline is undeniably dramatic, a rugged expanse of rocky outcrops buffeted by the relentless Southern Ocean.

The waves crash against the shore with a satisfying roar, reminding us of nature's raw power. It’s the sort of place where you half expect to see a weathered sailor emerging from the mist.
The area is probably most known for its iconic lighthouse. The gleaming white structure stands sentinel against the azure sky, a beacon of hope for passing ships. We walked up to the lighthouse and admired its classic design.

We could easily picture the keepers of old, diligently tending to their duties, ensuring safe passage for vessels navigating these treacherous waters.
But Corny Point offers more than just dramatic cliffs and maritime history. We stumbled upon a secluded bay, its turquoise waters shimmering under the midday sun.

The beach was a pristine stretch of white sand, and the shallow lagoon-like waters were unbelievably inviting. We spotted a variety of seabirds flitting about, adding to the scene's idyllic charm. It was hard to believe this calm oasis existed only a short distance from the wild, windswept coastline. Apparently, even nature appreciates a good contrast. We could have spent the rest of the day simply relaxing and soaking up the serenity, but the road called. Another adventure awaited, no doubt.
