After our rather spirited stay at Ardrossan, a bit of tranquillity seemed in order. We found precisely that in Port Julia, South Australia.
The town itself is small and unassuming, which is precisely its charm. It's the kind of place where one can truly unwind and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. The air is clean, the pace is slow, and the scenery is quite pleasant.
The coastline at Port Julia features striking, ochre-colored cliffs that give the area a distinctive character. Walking along the beach, we observed the long jetty stretching out into the Spencer Gulf. The water looked inviting, though perhaps a little too bracing for a leisurely swim on this particular day. We hear the fishing is quite good there, though we did not cast a line ourselves. Maybe next time.
We've certainly added Port Julia to our mental list of places to revisit. It's a reminder that the best travel experiences are often found in the quiet corners of the world.
