Goolwa, South Australia, offered a slower pace after some of our more hurried stops. The town possesses a certain quiet dignity, evident in its preserved architecture and connection to the Murray River.

Our first encounter was with the PS Oscar W, a Murray River paddle steamer moored along the wharf.

It's a rather imposing vessel, a testament to a bygone era of river transport and commerce. It's not difficult to imagine it laden with wool bales, chugging along the waterway.

Further exploration led us through the town center, where we were immediately struck by the imposing facade of the Corio Hotel, established in 1858.

One can easily picture the comings and goings of travelers and locals within its walls over the decades, the countless stories that have unfolded within its confines.

We continued our stroll and came across the Old Customs House, a solid stone building that speaks to Goolwa's past as a significant port.

Finally, our wanderings took us past the St. Jude's Anglican Church, another impressive building with its pointed steeple reaching for the sky.

These historical buildings give the town a sense of timelessness, a place where the past and present seem to coexist comfortably. It was a day of gentle discovery in a place that seems to appreciate its own history.
