Our travels often lead us down unexpected paths, and today’s detour through Timboon, Victoria, was no exception. We weren’t necessarily searching for artisanal cheese or organic dairy, but sometimes the road has a way of pointing you toward things you didn't know you needed.
The promise of a good coffee lured us to Schulz Organic Creamery & Cafe.

We appreciated their commitment to organic practices, even if we're more accustomed to instant coffee around the campfire. We’re not sure about the benefits of "organic" milk, but the coffee was certainly palatable.
Before leaving town, we took a stroll on a footbridge across a small creek.

The setting was quite peaceful, and it provided a nice respite from the usual roadside stops.
Next up was Cheese World on the Great Ocean Road near Timboon.

The giant cheese-churning machine replica out front leaves absolutely no doubt as to what awaits inside. This wasn't just a cheese shop; it was an experience. We found a curious museum dedicated to the history of cheese making and dairy farming.

Who knew there were so many tools involved? They displayed an impressive collection of vintage equipment; some looked like they could double as medieval torture devices.
Of course, the main attraction was the cheese itself.

We sampled a few varieties, naturally. The selection was vast, and we decided to purchase a couple of wedges to enjoy later. Whether they last the journey is another question entirely. All in all, Timboon proved to be a worthwhile stop. We may not have planned it, but it certainly added a bit of flavour to our day.
