Princetown, Victoria, offered a unique camping experience, primarily due to the local wildlife showing little regard for personal space. We found the caravan park to be quite popular, judging by the rows of fellow travelers who had the same idea as us.

The real entertainment started when we decided to enjoy a picnic lunch. We hadn't even unwrapped the sandwiches when two kangaroos decided that the park bench was, in fact, their park bench.

They stared with an intensity that suggested we either share our lunch or face the consequences. Naturally, we shared. It's best not to argue with a kangaroo.
Later, we took a walk to explore the local scenery. The wetland near the coast was teeming with birdlife and a surprising number of kangaroos. Apparently, the locals have worked out that the reeds offer great protection from the elements.

The coastal views themselves were quite impressive, rugged and windswept in a manner that only the Southern Ocean can deliver. The rock formations were dramatic, the kind of thing that makes you feel very small and insignificant.

Our time in Princetown was certainly memorable. We can't say we've ever shared a picnic so intimately with kangaroos before, and we suspect it's a memory that will stick with us for some time. It's a good reminder to always pack extra sandwiches, just in case.
