After a delightful visit with Greg and Sue, our departure from Monbulk, Victoria, marked the start of our journey westward. Saying goodbye is never easy, but the open road always beckons. We knew it would be a long day on the road.
The initial stretch involved navigating the dense urban traffic.

The South Melbourne skyline, a mixture of modern glass and established structures, served as our backdrop. The city was bustling with activity, a stark contrast to the quieter coastal towns we’d recently explored. We navigated efficiently.
Once we cleared the city centre, the freeway opened up, and the pace quickened considerably. The change in scenery was immediate; industrial areas gave way to sprawling suburbs.

Overhead signals directed traffic with precision. We managed to merge into the flow, joining what seemed like an endless stream of vehicles.
Crossing the West Gate Bridge, we were reminded of the impressive infrastructure that supports modern travel.

The support cables created a dramatic visual against the sky. The traffic seemed to thin out slightly, which was a relief.
The afternoon brought open skies and the promise of a smooth journey ahead.

Clear signage directed us toward Geelong and beyond, further westward towards home. We knew the road would be long, but we had plenty of snacks, good music, and each other's company, which is all we really need.
