Our adventures brought us to Newhaven, Victoria, a spot we'd heard held more than just scenic coastal views. Turns out, word of mouth was spot on.
The avian life was immediately apparent. A crowd gathered at the beach, clearly drawn by a spectacle we soon discovered involved dozens of pelicans.

These weren't your shy, distant seabirds. They were bold, expectant, and quite the showmen. The sheer number of birds was impressive, each vying for the best position.

From our vantage point, the Newhaven bridge provided a scenic backdrop to the entire affair. The whole scene felt like a perfectly orchestrated wildlife ballet.
After the pelican pandemonium, we decided to indulge in something a little sweeter. The Phillip Island Chocolate Factory beckoned, promising a glimpse into the world of confectionery delights. It's not something we usually do, but chocolate seemed appropriate for Valentine's Day.
The exterior itself, with its playful signage and promise of "free samples", was enough to pique our interest.

Inside, the displays were elaborate, and the aroma was, of course, divine.

The samples, we can confirm, were indeed free and plentiful (perhaps a bit too plentiful; our waistlines may never forgive us). It was a touristy stop, without a doubt, but sometimes those are exactly what you need. A bit of sugary fun, a few photos, and a memory to savor – literally. All in all, Newhaven offered a blend of natural beauty and manufactured sweetness, a combination we found surprisingly palatable.
