Tidal River, Victoria, is a place that lives up to its name. Where else can you find such a beautiful convergence of ocean, river, and bushland? We’ve certainly seen our fair share of coastal towns, but Tidal River offers a unique charm.
The beach stretches invitingly, a wide expanse of sand perfect for a morning stroll. The water is crystal clear, revealing the seabed in shades of blue and gold

. We noticed several people taking advantage of the shallow waters, wading and enjoying the sunshine. It’s a far cry from the often-crowded beaches we’re used to back in Western Australia; the peace and quiet is quite refreshing.

The surrounding landscape is equally impressive. Lush green hills roll down to meet the sand, providing a dramatic backdrop to the serene coastal scene. The vegetation is dense and vibrant, a stark contrast to the dry, arid landscapes we sometimes encounter on our travels.

The rock formations at the edge of the beach add an extra layer of character, sculpted by the relentless forces of nature over millennia. They provide a safe haven for smaller marine life, which is always exciting to see.

While we didn't swim (the water was lovely, but we didn't bring our bathers), we spent a good few hours simply wandering along the beach, soaking up the sun and the atmosphere. Tidal River is more than just a pretty place; it's a reminder of the raw beauty and tranquility that Australia has to offer. We might just have to extend our stay.
