Our travels have led us to Yanakie, a quiet corner of Victoria that promises (and delivers) tranquility. After the bustle of more tourist-heavy spots, the serenity here is most welcome. We’ve found a lovely spot to park ourselves for a few days.

Our campsite has a generous patch of grass, shaded by mature trees, and is close enough to the water that we can hear the gentle lapping of waves. It’s just the ticket for a bit of relaxation.
The view from the shore is simply breathtaking. Across the water, the distant hills create a soft, muted backdrop. The water itself is teeming with life. Today we observed a large gathering of black swans gracefully gliding across the surface.

One brave canine joined them for a swim, seemingly unfazed by the presence of so many majestic birds.
The clear, still water reflects the sky above.

A solitary pylon stands partially submerged, a silent sentinel watching over the peaceful scene. We spent a good portion of the afternoon simply sitting and watching the ever-changing patterns of clouds and light. Sometimes, the best travel experiences are the simplest. It's certainly better than doing the tax return!
