The Great Southern Touring Route continued to deliver the goods as we found ourselves in Foster, Victoria. It's a charming little town, the kind where you can easily imagine settling down if the lure of the open road wasn't so strong. What struck us immediately was the abundance of flowers. Every corner, it seemed, was bursting with vibrant colour.

The council gardeners are clearly doing a bang-up job.
Our first stop was naturally, coffee. We spotted a sign for Griffiths Bros Coffee Roasters and made a beeline.

Properly caffeinated, we were ready to explore in earnest. The main street is compact and easily navigable. A notable feature is the impressive clock tower which stands proudly in the center of town.

It's a grand structure, and provides a focal point for the surrounding shops and businesses. There is also a more expansive view of the clock tower from a different angle.

We admired the local architecture, a mix of classic shopfronts and more modern structures.

It gives Foster a pleasant, lived-in feel. The town square area near the Exchange Hotel

also featured meticulously maintained flowerbeds. Even the most mundane street corner was transformed into a miniature garden. One can easily find another view of the beautiful colors in Foster.

Foster had a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, and we enjoyed our short time there. A definite must see if you're passing through this part of Victoria.
