Mallacoota, Victoria, proved to be a quiet but charming stop on our travels. The air was crisp, the sky clear, and the general atmosphere...relaxed. Perhaps a little *too* relaxed, if such a thing is possible.

The water was calm, reflecting the sky like a mirror. We spent the morning simply enjoying the view from the waterfront, watching the local birds go about their business.
Around midday, we noticed a small market setting up near the boat ramp. It was quite quaint, with a few vendors selling local crafts and food.

One stall in particular caught our eye: a gentleman grilling what appeared to be freshly caught fish. We're not ones to pass up fresh seafood, so we indulged in a couple of fillets. Simple, perfectly cooked, and delicious. We'd highly recommend this to others.
The birdlife in Mallacoota is quite remarkable. Pelicans, seagulls, and what we believe were cormorants were everywhere, perched atop every available post and mooring.

It was quite the spectacle, watching them vie for the best vantage points. The local council should seriously consider charging them rent.
After our fill of seafood and avian observation, we took a stroll along the waterfront. The views across the inlet are quite lovely, stretching out towards the distant hills.

All in all, Mallacoota is a pleasant place to spend a day or two if you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Just don't expect too much excitement – the excitement is best left to the birds.
