Boydtown, New South Wales, continues to surprise us. After lunch, we thought we'd seen the best it had to offer. We were wrong. On our way back to the caravan park, we had a rather remarkable encounter.

Emerging from the dense trees lining the trail, a magnificent stag casually grazed. His antlers were impressive, a testament to the maturity of this animal. He seemed remarkably unconcerned by our presence, a sign that these deer might be relatively accustomed to people.

A little further along, we spotted more. This time, a stag accompanied by a slightly smaller buck, perhaps a younger relative.

They were less inclined to linger, disappearing into the tall grass with an elegant grace.

It was a truly unexpected sight. Deer are not exactly native to this part of the world, but they have clearly adapted well to the Australian bush. It makes one wonder what other hidden treasures this region holds.

This part of New South Wales is definitely full of pleasant surprises.
