While away from family, our daughter Jennifer thoughtfully treated us to lunch. We decided to take the opportunity to explore and headed towards Boydtown, New South Wales.

The Seahorse Inn looked inviting, and its seaside location promised a pleasant afternoon. The entry is quite striking, a grand archway with an 'S' emblazoned on the tiled floor.

The outdoor seating area was particularly appealing. Overlooking the bay, it provided a calming view.

It wasn't long before our drinks arrived – a colourful cocktail and a crisp beer.

For the mains, we chose dishes that suited the coastal atmosphere. Steve ordered a tasty looking meat dish, beautifully presented with a side of rice.

Lisa chose the prawn salad, which was equally tempting.

Of course, no lunch is complete without dessert, and we couldn't resist trying two different cakes. One was a layered mocha confection with a dollop of cream.

The other was a dark chocolate cake with what looked like caramel icing, served with cream and ice cream.

A truly decadent end to a lovely meal in a picturesque setting.
