We camped in Congo, New South Wales, a tiny settlement nestled along the coast.
The landscape here is truly something. The meeting of the fresh river water and the salty ocean spray creates a mesmerizing tableau. The water flows into a shallow sandy beach and ultimately merges into the great blue sea. We spent a while just watching the waves gently roll in.

The area is teeming with wildlife, though of the smaller variety. We spotted several interesting insects, some of which even posed for us. One particularly brazen grasshopper seemed quite proud of itself, strutting across the gravel path. It was practically begging for its portrait.

We obliged, of course. We found his confidence amusing.
Congo, New South Wales may be a small place, but its natural beauty and quirky inhabitants made it well worth the visit. We would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet escape.
