It seemed only fitting to welcome 2025 with a refreshing start, and what better way than a swim in the local rock pools? The crowds were out in force, enjoying the sunshine and the coastal scenery.

We made our way towards the edge of the beach, where the natural rock formations created calm, shallow pools perfect for a leisurely dip. The water was cool and clear, a welcome respite from the summer heat. The pools teemed with life, small fish darting amongst the rocks. Lisa, ever enthusiastic, was particularly keen to take the plunge.

She braved the initial chill, wading into one of the larger pools, her blue hat providing a splash of color against the rugged coastline. It was a simple, unpretentious way to mark the new year, surrounded by the beauty of the Wollongong shoreline and the cheerful atmosphere of holidaymakers enjoying themselves. A far cry from the elaborate fireworks displays we've seen in past years, but perhaps all the more satisfying for its understated charm.
