The air was thick with anticipation as Christmas Eve descended upon Fairy Meadow, New South Wales. While a traditional Aussie Christmas might involve a barbie on the beach, we decided to embrace a slightly different festive spirit this year. A bit of color and cheer was definitely in order.

So, with the sun dipping below the horizon, we strung up a series of multi-colored lights along the awning of our caravan.

The soft glow of the bulbs cast a warm, inviting light on our little patch of the Illawarra. It's always a pleasure to brighten up our campsite, even if it's just for ourselves.

We're never ones to shy away from a bit of visual spectacle.

Even the beast was lit up - our Ram 2500 parked nearby, its chrome grille reflecting the festive colors. A little slice of home, even when we are far from it.

While we might miss the familiar traditions of Christmas in Western Australia, we're quite content to create our own memories here in Fairy Meadow.
