Our wanderings have brought us to Sydney, New South Wales, a city where the modern skyline dances with historical grandeur. Itβs a fascinating juxtaposition, seeing glass and steel towers rising behind sandstone facades that have witnessed generations. We decided to focus our attention on some of the more established buildings, those steadfast structures that tell tales of Sydney's past.
We began our self-guided tour with St. Mary's Cathedral, a Gothic Revival masterpiece

. The sheer scale of the building is remarkable, a testament to the ambition of its architects. We could have spent hours simply admiring the intricate details of its facade.

The spires reach skyward, daring the clouds to try and match their majesty.
Nearby, we came across another striking building, its sandstone walls exuding a sense of history and permanence

. The intricate carvings and the building's layout spoke of an era when craftsmanship was prized above all else.
Moving on, we found ourselves in front of the Art Gallery of New South Wales

. The classical design, with its imposing columns, provides a stately entrance. We paused to admire the statues in the garden, enjoying a moment of quiet contemplation amidst the city's bustle

.
Perhaps the most unexpected: the Sydney Hospital, notable not only for its architecture but for its unusual bronze statue out front β a boar

. It seems an odd choice for a hospital, but legend has it that rubbing the boar's snout brings good luck. We resisted the urge, figuring our luck was already pretty good just being in Sydney. Seeing the beautiful and Heritage buildings in Sydney gave us an excellent taste of the area.
