What a difference a day makes. After the spectacular sunshine we enjoyed, the skies opened up. My morning walk around Blackheath in New South Wales found us enveloped in cloud and mist.

It's funny how quickly the mood of a place can shift. The cheerful brightness of yesterday was replaced by a hushed, almost mystical atmosphere.
The walking trails that snake through the bushland surrounding Blackheath took on an entirely different character. The vibrant greens of the ferns and undergrowth practically glowed against the backdrop of swirling fog.

It felt as though we were walking through a scene from a film, the air thick with anticipation.
Even the local wildlife seemed to be enjoying the change. A Crimson Rosella, usually so boldly visible, perched quietly on a branch, its colours muted by the damp air.

We spotted it amongst the branches, seemingly unfazed by the conditions. We always consider ourselves lucky to observe the wildlife.
We continued our walk, the sound of trickling water growing louder as we approached one of the many creeks that crisscross the area. The water, stained a rich amber colour from the tannins in the surrounding vegetation, flowed swiftly over the rocks.

The mist hanging in the air gave the scene an ethereal quality.
Further along the trail, we reached a small waterfall cascading into a pool below.

Even in the rain, it was a tranquil spot, a perfect place to pause and appreciate the raw beauty of the Blue Mountains. It’s definitely a different experience compared to yesterday, but we find the place is still stunning, even on such a dreary day.
