We spent a wonderfully relaxing day exploring Glen Davis, New South Wales, nestled deep within the Capertee Valley. It’s a place that feels both grand and intimate, a testament to the power of nature and the persistence of human history. We took a leisurely walk in the morning to the lookout. The view was simply breathtaking, with the towering cliffs glowing under the sun.
The landscape dominates the vista, a reminder of the raw, untamed beauty that still exists in this part of the world.
Later, we saw kangaroos grazing peacefully on the grassy fields. They didn't seem too bothered by our presence, more interested in the ample supply of vegetation at their disposal.
They truly are fascinating creatures and are always a delight to observe in their natural habitat.
The remnants of the old shale oil works are a stark reminder of the area's industrial past. The skeletal structures and crumbling buildings paint a picture of a boom and bust, where ambition and hard work ultimately gave way to economic realities.
The day grew warm, and the clear, shallow creek beckoned. Lisa decided to fully embrace the moment, taking a refreshing dip to cool off.
The water was incredibly crisp. We aren't sure if any water dragons were watching, but if they were, they did not bother us.
We even spotted a kangaroo down by the water's edge, perhaps contemplating its own dip!
It stood motionless for quite some time, a sentinel observing its surroundings.
As the day drew to a close, we were treated to another spectacular view of the golden cliffs bathed in the warm light of the setting sun.
