Having finally resolved the automotive tribulations that threatened to derail our travels, we yearned for nothing more than the peace and quiet of the bush. Glen Davis, in New South Wales, seemed like the perfect antidote to the stresses of roadside repairs. We needed a good dose of nature to calm our nerves and get us back on track.

Glen Davis is a remarkable location, and not just because of its relative isolation. The surrounding landscape is dominated by towering sandstone escarpments, a visual feast that changes dramatically with the angle of the sun.

The bush here is a vibrant tapestry of eucalyptus and native shrubs, providing a haven for a diverse range of wildlife. The air itself is thick with the scent of gum leaves, a fragrance that instantly soothes the soul.

We found a spot where we could truly unwind and simply soak in the sounds of the bush. There's a certain rhythm to the Australian bush, a subtle symphony of birdsong, rustling leaves, and the occasional distant call of a kookaburra.

Even as the sun dipped lower, the golden glow on the escarpment reminded us of nature's artistry.

It's a world away from the relentless hum of city life.

Of course, no visit to the Australian bush would be complete without encountering some of the local residents. Glen Davis certainly didn’t disappoint. We were quietly observing a family of kangaroos grazing peacefully on the grassy verges, and it reminded us exactly why we love this country.

A mother and her joey paused, casting curious glances in our direction before resuming their gentle grazing. These encounters, however fleeting, are what makes travelling through the Australian bush so rewarding. Glen Davis offers a welcome opportunity to connect with nature.
