The allure of Maryvale, New South Wales, lies in its quiet simplicity. After a few days of more structured sightseeing, we decided to take a breather and enjoy the simple pleasures of country life. It was a conscious decision to slow down and truly appreciate the landscape around us.

Our time in Ponto Falls has been delightfully uneventful, and that is precisely the point.

Most of the day was spent relaxing and watching the goings-on around us. The local farmers’ cows provided ample entertainment. We observed them grazing peacefully in a nearby field, seemingly oblivious to the worries of the world. They lumbered about, their bovine existence a reassuring constant in an ever-changing world.

And then there are the birds. We’ve seen a variety of feathered friends flitting about, but the cockatoos are especially entertaining. Their antics are quite amusing, and their calls are, shall we say, characterful. One particular cockatoo even decided to give us a close-up performance.

It strutted through the tall grass, looking for all the world like a miniature, feathered king surveying its domain. These are the moments that make our travels worthwhile.

We didn't expect this to be the highlight of our trip, but it was exactly what we needed. We will always remember our tranquil time in Maryvale.
