We started our day with a peaceful early morning walk around the lake at our camp in Wallerawang. The air was crisp, and the water was still, reflecting the overcast sky with a mirror-like clarity.

The reeds along the shore rustled gently, providing a soothing soundtrack to our stroll. It's amazing how the simplest of scenes can offer such tranquillity before a day of exploration.
Later, on, we found ourselves in Portland, New South Wales, drawn in by the promise of silo art. These towering canvases have become something of a fascination for us on our travels. Portland did not disappoint. The sheer scale of the artwork is impressive, and the monochrome palette lends a stark, almost photographic quality to the depictions of what we take to be Portland’s early industrial workers.

There are four silos covered in the mural. We spent a good while wandering around the silos, admiring the artist Guido van Helten's skill and the subtle stories etched onto the concrete. The way the artist captured the character of each man is truly remarkable. Frankly, it's a far more interesting use of silos than storing grain.
