We’ve finally made it to our interim destination for the next week: a farmstay just east of Bathurst, in the heart of Wambool, New South Wales. Our timing is deliberate, of course. We’re here for the Bathurst 1000 race on Sunday, but more importantly, we’re here to soak in the atmosphere and experience the week leading up to the main event.
This whole exercise is a new one for us. We aren't petrol-heads but decided on a whim to see what this race thing is all about.
Our first evening here was capped by a sunset over the rolling hills that can only be described as spectacular.

The colours painted across the sky were truly something. Cattle dotted the verdant landscape below, seemingly unconcerned by the impending roar of engines that will soon fill the air. It’s a surprisingly tranquil prelude to what we expect will be a rather noisy weekend.
The farmstay itself is charming. It's nice to be away from crowds and the property gives us a chance to relax before race week really kicks off. We intend to spend the next few days exploring the region, dipping our toes into the racing fervor, and generally enjoying the serenity of Wambool before the engines start their chorus.
