We'd heard whispers about the town's silo art and, truth be told, we were a bit sceptical. We’ve seen our share of oversized murals that promised the world and delivered… well, not quite. However, the Grenfell silos proved to be a delightful exception.
After spending some time exploring the charming town and Young, we headed back to the caravan to relax before the main event: the light show at the Grenfell silo art. The anticipation was building, and we confess, we were curious if it was worth the hype. As dusk settled, we made our way back to the silos, cameras in tow.
The anticipation we felt quickly melted away as darkness fell. The show commenced with the silos bathed in their original painted colours.

The initial projection revealed the familiar pastoral scene: sheep grazing peacefully, interspersed with cattle, set against a backdrop of rolling hills and a majestic gum tree, all under the watchful eye of a soaring wedge-tailed eagle and a native parrot. It was impressive enough on its own.
But that was just the beginning. The real magic started when the light show kicked into high gear. The colours shifted and changed, transforming the silos into a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. One moment, they were bathed in an intense red, giving the scene a dramatic and almost fiery feel.

The next, they were awash in a cool purple, lending an ethereal and otherworldly quality to the pastoral artwork.

The shifting light accentuated different aspects of the mural, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
The light show at the Grenfell silo art wasn't just a visual display; it was a celebration of the region's agricultural heritage and artistic talent. We went to Grenfell expecting to see some painted silos, and we found a beautiful and moving spectacle.
