The drive into Weethalle, New South Wales, offered the familiar, golden hues of wheat fields stretching toward the horizon. However, it wasn't the promise of a good harvest that drew us in; it was the promise of art rising from the landscape.

The Weethalle Silo Art, painted by Heesco, dominates the skyline as you approach the town.

The sheer scale of the project is breathtaking. We stood in awe, observing the intricate details of the artwork depicting the region's agricultural heritage. One silo shows a shearer hard at work, expertly removing a fleece. Another displays what appears to be a farmer inspecting his crop. The artist has captured the essence of the local industry, the toil and dedication etched into the very grain of the silos themselves. It’s a powerful statement about the region's identity.

Beyond the silos, we decided to stretch our legs and explore what else Weethalle had to offer. It wasn't long before we stumbled upon "Watts Junk Art Gallery". Now, we’ve seen our share of eccentric roadside attractions, but this one truly stood out.

The building itself is painted a vibrant purple, ensuring you won't miss it. Perched precariously on the roof are several metal figures, clearly made from recycled materials. It’s a whimsical touch.

The exterior is crammed with all manner of sculptures and creations, each piece seemingly born from a fever dream of discarded metal.

A whimsical police box flanked by metal sculptures adds a touch of surrealism to the Weethalle landscape.

The centerpiece, at least for us, was the decidedly out-of-place Police Box, flanked by two metallic figures. It's the kind of bizarre juxtaposition that perfectly encapsulates the charm of these small rural towns. Weethalle might be a small dot on the map, but it clearly has a big heart, and a healthy dose of quirky artistic spirit.
