Our stay at the CMCA Park in Temora is peaceful, punctuated only by the persistent interest of the local magpie population. These feathered residents are quite bold, displaying an inquisitive nature that borders on audacious. It was difficult to avoid them, and we often found ourselves sharing our space with these black and white characters.

We became convinced that a particular magpie was following us from camp to camp.

It appeared every time we set up camp. We jokingly started calling him Clyde, imagining that it was the same bird greeting us at each new spot. The absurdity of the thought that one particular magpie would dedicate itself to our movements provided us with quite a bit of amusement. We may have been slightly delirious from the sheer amount of driving. We found their constant presence strangely comforting. Perhaps it was just the simple pleasure of observing wildlife up close, or maybe it was something more. Whatever the reason, our encounters with the magpies of Temora have become a fond memory.
