Continuing our exploration of northern Victoria, we found ourselves in Devenish. What awaited us there wasn't merely a stopover, but a powerful and moving tribute rendered on a grand scale. Devenish is one of those places where you immediately feel a sense of community and history, the kind of town that makes you want to learn more. The town's GrainCorp silos have been transformed into a canvas by artist Cam Scale.
These aren’t just pretty pictures; they are a deeply resonant homage to the service and sacrifice of Australians in wartime.

The towering murals depict a modern-day medic, a World War I nurse, and a light horseman with his steed. The scale of the artworks is impressive, dominating the landscape and demanding attention.
The detail is equally striking, particularly in the rendering of the light horseman and his mount.

The artist has captured not only the physical likeness but also a sense of quiet determination and stoicism. These murals serve as a powerful reminder of the human cost of conflict, and are very well done. Devenish may be a small town, but its silos tell a big story, one that will resonate with anyone who takes the time to listen.
