Aysons Campground, a free camp we'd heard whispers about amongst the grey nomad community. While free camps can be a mixed bag, sometimes you stumble upon a true gem.

The initial impression was certainly favorable. A spacious, grassy area dotted with mature trees offered plenty of shade and a sense of peace. It's the kind of place where you can truly unwind after a day on the road, and we were certainly ready to unwind.

Aysons Campground is set near the water's edge, and that proximity adds a certain charm. The water reflects the sky, creating a sense of expansive calm. It seems to be the perfect spot to settle in and relax. We observed plenty of birdlife flitting amongst the trees.

We didn't spot any kangaroos this trip, but they are supposed to be around!

It may not have all the bells and whistles of a fully serviced caravan park, but Aysons Campground in the Shire of Campaspe offers something far more valuable: a chance to reconnect with nature and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. And that, in our opinion, is priceless.
