Leaving Lake Boga behind us, we set course for Sea Lake, Victoria. We’d heard whispers of vibrant art and a landscape unlike any other, and quite frankly, our curiosity got the better of us.

The first thing that struck us about Sea Lake was the sheer artistry splashed across the town. It’s more than just decoration; it’s a celebration of the region's history and culture. One cannot help but notice the sheer magnitude of the Silo Art Trail.

These massive canvases tell stories of the land, the people, and the native wildlife in a way that’s both grand and intimate. The towering silos feature ethereal figures and vibrant representations of local fauna by The Zookeeper & DRAPL.

Venturing further, we came to the remarkable expanse of its namesake: Sea Lake.

The lake is pink, a stunning natural phenomenon caused by algae and high salt concentrations. The layers of pink stretched to the horizon under the bright blue sky. The surrounding landscape is stark yet beautiful, a reminder of the delicate balance between nature and the elements.

Even the buildings in town share in the artistic spirit. A mural stretches across an entire building facade.

Sea Lake also boasts some beautifully preserved architecture, too. The Royal Hotel, a classic example of Australian pub architecture, stands proudly.

The ornate balconies and red brick facade are a testament to a bygone era, when Sea Lake was a bustling hub for the surrounding agricultural region.

For us, Sea Lake was an unexpected gem, a place where art, nature, and history converge. It's a testament to the spirit and resilience of rural Australia, and a reminder that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places.
