The charming town of Halls Gap provided an excellent base for our exploration of the Grampians. We began our day, as any self-respecting travellers would, with a quest for sustenance.

Kerrie's Kreations, with its delightful cupcake logo, beckoned.

We split a slice of a raspberry cheesecake. It was, to put it mildly, ambrosial. Fuelled by sugar and a surprising amount of caffeine, we felt adequately prepared to tackle the great outdoors.
The Grampians rise majestically from the surrounding plains. The views, as we ascended, were quite simply breathtaking. From high vantage points, we could see for miles, the patchwork landscape unfolding beneath us like a giant quilt.

The vastness is truly something you need to see to believe. The landscape is dominated by sprawling forests and distant lakes, a symphony of green and blue.
We spent the afternoon driving through the park, stopping at several lookouts.

We were struck by the dramatic topography; steep cliffs and lush valleys stretching as far as the eye could see. One particular rock formation caught our eye.

Its weathered face and layered structure giving it the appearance of a stony sentinel guarding the landscape.
We were glad that our travels took us through Halls Gap, the heart of the Grampians. It's safe to say we will be returning to this location in the future.
