Another morning, another town to explore. This time we found ourselves in Wallaroo, South Australia. A pleasant location on the Yorke Peninsula.

We decided to stretch our legs with a walk around the town. You see the most interesting things when you leave the driving to someone else – or, in our case, park the vehicle entirely and go on foot. Wallaroo presents a rather appealing collection of well-preserved buildings.

We were particularly taken by the number of historical sandstone homes and buildings.

The craftsmanship is evident, and the pride the residents take in maintaining them is also rather visible.

One such building that caught our eye was the old church, a grand sandstone structure that seems to be awaiting a new lease on life.

You can't help but wonder about all the services and events that have taken place within those walls over the years.

Wallaroo has an understated charm, a quiet confidence that speaks volumes. It's not trying to be something it's not, and that, in itself, is rather refreshing. A pleasant stop, indeed.
