We've always enjoyed a good morning walk; it's the best way to discover the little gems a place like Crystal Brook has to offer. We began our day with a stroll around town before venturing further south within the Barunga West Council area of South Australia.

The meticulously maintained gardens and ironwork fences surrounding many of the older homes are just captivating. The dedication to preserving the history of this region is palpable.
The sandstone architecture is striking; the craftsmanship on display in these old homes is simply astounding. The detail in the wrought iron and the symmetry of the facades. One could easily spend the day simply admiring the homes.

It's quite different from the architecture we're used to seeing back in Western Australia.
We made sure to pay our respects at the Methodist Church.

It stands as a reminder of the area's history and serves as a tribute to the United States soldiers who were in the area. Then we walked by another church, the original Methodist Church, and it's now a daycare.

It seemed like a fitting continuation of its community service. It is so nice to see so much life being injected into these older historic buildings. Crystal Brook, in the Barunga West Council region, is a place where the past is not just remembered, but actively cherished and incorporated into the present. We're quite glad we stopped.
