Laura was another town that beckoned to us, a little gem nestled in the South Australian countryside. We'd heard whispers of its charm, and frankly, after miles on the road, the promise of a leisurely stroll was more than enough to draw us in.
The first thing that struck us upon arriving in Laura was its palpable sense of history.

The buildings lining the main street looked remarkably well-preserved, as though time had politely side-stepped this particular corner of the world. There was an old bank, an old Post Office - all constructed from that lovely local stone.

Speaking of which, the Post Office is for sale. Fancy running a Post Office? We certainly don't!
The town also celebrates its heritage with bronze statues scattered along the streets. A statue of a family, perhaps pioneers of the region, stands proudly on a stone base, a testament to Laura's past.

Further along, we found a statue of C.J. Dennis, an Australian poet, deep in thought, pen in hand.

A quiet observer of the passing parade in this small town. We find it comforting to know that wordsmiths of his caliber have passed through these streets.
Laura was a welcome break. A reminder that sometimes, the most rewarding journeys are the ones that encourage you to slow down, appreciate the details, and simply soak it all in.
