We finally rolled into Crystal Brook, finding a free camp just outside of town.

The only downside, and it was a minor one, was its proximity to the railway line. Fortunately, the rail traffic was light, and our sleep wasn't disturbed. There's something about the rumble of a train in the distance that can be oddly soothing, anyway.
On our way to Crystal Brook, we passed through Gladstone and ventured out to explore the old Gladstone Gaol.

A rather imposing structure, even from the outside. You could imagine the stories it holds, the echoes of lives lived within those thick stone walls.
Back in Crystal Brook, we took a wander through the town itself. It's the kind of place where you can feel the history in the air.

We stopped at Kupsch Bakery, a local institution since 1963. It's always a good sign when a bakery has been around for that long; they must be doing something right.
The town park provided a pleasant respite.

The rotunda, with its classic design, stood as a centrepiece, surrounded by well-maintained gardens. Crystal Brook has a quiet charm, a blend of rural simplicity and historical significance that makes it a worthwhile stop on our journey.
