You simply cannot travel through this part of South Australia without a stop at the Stone Hut Bakery. It's practically mandatory. We've heard tales of this bakery for years, so it was time to experience it ourselves.

The bakery itself is a local institution, and the history is palpable as soon as you step through the door. The building has stood the test of time, but we were more interested in what was inside. We are always interested in good food.

The pies are, of course, what most people come for, and they didn't disappoint. Flaky crusts and savory fillings are the order of the day, but we went with something a little different: the Chocolate Slice. Let's just say we should have purchased more than one.

A little bite of heaven.
It's a worthwhile stop if you're ever in the neighborhood.
