We spent last night just before the Nullarbor Roadhouse. It's funny, the things you remember. For us, it will be the vastness, of course, but also the unexpected beauty of the coastline. We had always thought of the Nullarbor as a flat, featureless expanse, but the cliffs along the Great Australian Bight are anything but.

The rugged coastline of the Nullarbor reveals a dramatic meeting of outback and ocean, carved by millennia of wind and wave.

The sheer drop to the turquoise water below is breathtaking, and the contrast between the arid landscape and the vibrant ocean is striking. You can practically feel the weight of geological history pressing down on you. There's something quite humbling about standing on the edge of such ancient formations. We even spotted a few whales breaching in the distance, which was a welcome surprise.

Finding a spot to stop was relatively straightforward, despite the sparse population. The views were stunning.

We managed to find a perch that gave us a panoramic view of the coast. It's moments like these that make all the preparations and the long stretches of driving worthwhile. We deployed the awning, made ourselves a cup of tea, and simply soaked it all in.

The isolation out here is something else. The quiet, the absence of light pollution, the sheer scale of the sky... it's a sensory experience that strips away the distractions of modern life.

Our overnight stop near the Nullarbor Roadhouse offered stunning views and a sense of profound isolation.

You find yourself appreciating the simple things – the warmth of the sun, the taste of a good cup of tea, the company of your partner. It's a reminder that sometimes, less really is more.
