After our recent explorations further north, we found ourselves aiming south towards Geelong. Our ultimate goal? To catch the ferry to Tasmania. We decided to break up the trip with a stopover in Haddon, Victoria. The promise of a free camp was too good to pass up, and we're always keen to discover a new little corner of the country.

Haddon is a small place, but it offered exactly what we needed: a quiet spot to recharge before the ferry. We found the designated free camping area without any trouble. It's a basic setup, admittedly, but the wide open space and the friendly atmosphere made it worthwhile. Other travelers were clearly doing the same thing – prepping for the jump across the Strait.

There's always a certain camaraderie at these sorts of camps. A nod, a wave, a shared understanding of the journey ahead.
It wasn't all just about logistics, though. We took a short stroll around Haddon, and were pleased to find that it had a certain understated charm. We noticed a small creek flowing nearby, and stopped for a moment to appreciate the tranquility of the water and the surrounding greenery.

Not a bad spot to spend an evening, all things considered. Certainly beats the hustle and bustle of a caravan park. We were up early the next morning to hit the road again, but we found Haddon a nice, relaxing respite before our next adventure.
