We've seen our share of roadhouses across this wide brown land, some better than others. But Harry's Homemade in Nelshaby, South Australia, is definitely one that sticks in the memory. It's not just another pit stop; it's an experience.

The bright green building is hard to miss, a beacon promising pizza, coffee, and… well, that's where things get interesting. We walked in expecting the usual fare, but the freezers told a different story. Forget your standard beef patties.

Here, the options included camel burgers and buffalo burgers, along with venison. We didn't expect to see that on offer in a roadside cafe in South Australia, of all places. It's a long way from Western Australia.
And it didn't stop there. Crocodile tail fillets and crocodile sausages?

Apparently, Harry's believes in catering to all tastes, no matter how exotic. We opted for something a little less reptilian for lunch, but we certainly appreciated the adventurous spirit.
Of course, they also offered more conventional options. Lisa picked up a jar of marrow chutney.

We did think it was funny to see a whole display of marrow chutney. It's the kind of thing our grandmother used to make. This was definitely a place to find food that you don't see every day.
Harry's Homemade is more than just a place to grab a bite in Nelshaby; it's a testament to the quirky side of Australian cuisine. We certainly won’t forget our lunch stop there.
