It’s funny, isn’t it, how the simplest things are often the most restorative? After a stretch of some rather busy places, the lack of fanfare at Point Gibbon was a welcome change. We settled in for the night, enjoying the peace and quiet.

The next morning, we took ourselves for a stroll along the beach. It wasn't a meticulously groomed, postcard-perfect beach. It was real. A bit windswept, a bit rugged, and all the better for it.

Footprints trace a lonely path across the rippled sands of Point Gibbon's dunes, a testament to the solitude of its shores.

We noticed our footprints were the only ones on the sand as we ventured further down the coastline. You could almost hear the sand sighing underfoot as we continued on our walk.

The coastline at Point Gibbon is quite dramatic. The contrast of the red rocks against the turquoise water is striking. And some rather interesting, yellow algae clings to the rocks near the shoreline. It's not something we've seen before, and we assume it's a local phenomenon.

Vivid yellow algae contrasts sharply against the weathered red rocks and azure waters of Point Gibbon's rugged coastline.

We always say that it's the unexpected discoveries that make our travels so rewarding.
