Well, that’s it. Our grand adventure has come to an abrupt halt. Family matters have called us back west, putting a premature end to our big lap around this sun-drenched continent.
After settling in at the Standown Caravan Park, Lisa had to return to Brisbane to catch a flight home. With a heavy heart, we said our goodbyes, and then, I returned to Standown to pack up our home on wheels. The next morning, with the bonnet pointed westward, I started the long, lonely 4000+ kilometre journey home.

Our initial plan for the day was to make good headway west, and a late breakfast in Crows Nest, Queensland, seemed like a good starting point. The town itself is quite pleasant, and we paused to admire the local memorial.

It's a dignified tribute, a testament to the area's heritage.
However, my stop took an unexpected turn, and not in a good way. I pulled over, keen for a bit of respite at a local park, only to be greeted by a rather disheartening sight. A quick check revealed the source of my troubles. It seems in my haste to get going, I hadn’t properly secured the fridge door. The consequences? A rather unceremonious avalanche of groceries.

Condiments and fresh produce had staged a daring escape, decorating the floor in a sticky, colourful mess. Honestly, it was almost comical, if it hadn't been so frustrating. I really should have paid more attention, but the sooner I make it home, the better.
Despite the setback, the journey continues, and we'll keep you updated on our progress as we make our way back to Western Australia.
